HMW Projects
From the horse's Mouth
The driving force behind starting HMW, Formally Handy Mats Workshop, was a need to adapt during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.
What started out as a desire to keep busy and help out has grown to take on a life of its own and evolved to include a tight-knit group of professionals who all share a passion for pleasing and delivering world-class service to everyone.

After completing my two-year electrical engineering course at college, I was fortunate enough to be offered an apretachip by the local branch of the UK's latest service provider as an installation engineer. Here I began my career to becoming an emergency systems engineer. Installing large-scale projects in a commercial setting at such a young age gave me an excellent start as I received the best possible training in all aspects of the design and delivery of projects.
As I completed my three-year apprenticeship, I progressed to becoming a national service engineer, delivering large-scale PPM contracts and reactive calls to national clients. I spent the next eight years expanding my knowledge of the service industry. During this time, I undertook my formal project management qualification and began implementing my new skills to improve efficiency and reduce overheads on all of my contracts. Now armed with construction and project management qualifications, I began to schedule and deliver significant construction projects for domestic and commercial clients. After seven years of working for others, I became self-employed and set out as an independent construction manager, providing cover and support to existing projects. This time gave me great insight into other working practices and allowed me to gather information on processes and structures that furthered my understanding of the industry. In 2020 I started a family and traveling away from home was no longer viable so I decided to put my skills to good use and start small services providing business that brought national standards to local people. A reliable, cost-effective service that people would want to use repeatedly.
